New Mexico Local Meat Processing Grant (LMPG)
Overview
The New Mexico Department of Agriculture (NMDA) is accepting applications July 1 – 31, 2025. The New Mexico Local Meat Processing Grant (LMPG) competitive grant program is designed to assist meat processors by providing funding for byproduct disposal and related waste management systems, as well as initiatives to increase production capacity, enhance regulatory compliance, strengthen supply chains, and promote value-added processing.
Approximately $3 million is available under the LMPG grant program, pursuant to a one-time appropriation to NMDA during the 2025 state legislative session. Award ranges are flexible to support a wide range of activities related to byproduct disposal and waste systems that increase and diversify processing capacity, including equipment/technology purchases and building/facility upgrades. Grant funds are non-recurring and must be used before July 2029.

- Each project awarded must be completed before July 2029.
- Grant funds will not be awarded to projects that duplicate activities of a project that has received an award from another federal or state program.
